Delete the default WordPress “Hello world” post

What is the “Hello world” post?

When you first install WordPress, it includes a default blog post titled “Hello world!” This is a placeholder post meant to showcase how WordPress content works. However, it’s not meant to stay on your site.

Why is deleting it important?

1. Makes your site look more professional

Leaving the default post on your website can make it seem unfinished or unmaintained. Removing it shows that your site is properly set up and actively managed.

2. Helps with SEO

Search engines may index the “Hello world” post, and because many WordPress sites still have it, this can create duplicate content issues. Deleting it ensures your site is indexed with relevant content instead.

3. Removes a potential security risk

Some automated bots scan for default WordPress content to find websites that might not be fully configured yet. If the “Hello world” post is still there, it could indicate that your site is new or unprotected, making it a target for attacks.
