Disabling the author archives if your site has just 1 author

What are author archives?

Author archives are automatically generated pages that display all posts written by a specific author.

Why should you disable them?

If your site has only one author, it’s a good idea to disable author archives. These archives often create duplicate content since they typically mirror your blog’s homepage, which can lead to SEO issues. However, for multi-author websites, author archives can be helpful because they allow users to easily find content by a particular author.

How can you disable the author archives?

  1. Go to your WordPress dashboard.

  2. Hoover over Yoast SEO and click on “Settings”.

  3. Click on “Advanced”.

  4. Click on “Author archives”.

  5. Uncheck the box of enable author archives.

Why is this a recommendation?
