Introducing ‘interactive tasks’ in Progress Planner 1.5

There’s no feeling like completing an item from your to-do list. That’s why Ravi, Progress Planner’s mascot, has over 25 checks in their list of recommendations for your site. Some of these recommendations are checked off automatically because the plugin detects that you’ve fixed them, and there are a few you need to cross off yourself. Thus far, all of them have been straightforward checks. But not every task is straightforward. That’s why we’re introducing a new type called ‘interactive tasks’.

Introducing ‘Interactive tasks’

Unfortunately, not every task on your website can be completed in a single step. Sometimes, multiple steps are needed to assess whether a feature is well-configured and working as it should be. That’s why we’re introducing interactive tasks. This allows Ravi to add slightly more complicated tasks to their recommendations.

Does email work on your website?

WordPress sends emails about important events on your website, such as when a new comment has been posted or when a fatal error occurs. Ravi understands you don’t want to miss these!

That’s why Progress Planner 1.5 introduces a recurring task of verifying whether your website’s email system works. This new recommendation leverages the newly introduced ‘interactive task type’ to take you through a multi-step process.

Here’s what the first step of the new interactive task looks like:

Form asking the user to enter their email address to test if their WordPress site can send emails.
Follow the steps to verify your website can send emails.

Adding more interactive tasks

We’ll continue to add checks to our upcoming releases, many of which will leverage the power of our new ‘interactive tasks’. And, we’re also open to your suggestions! What tasks would you like to see added? And, which plugins would you like to have support for in Progress Planner?

Progress Planner version 1.5 is now available; update the plugin on your WordPress website to experience Ravi’s new recommendation yourself!
