Progress Planner 1.7: New and improved recommendations

We just released version 1.7 of Progress Planner, in which Ravi introduces new recommendations and improves several existing ones. The new recommendations help you review a new range of settings on your site, while the updated tasks are now even easier to understand and complete.

Check your site’s setup with new tasks

Setting the correct site language and time zone might seem minor, but both play a crucial role in how your website behaves and is perceived.

Set your site language

The site language guides how your visitors consume your content. It helps search engines and screen readers understand what language your site’s content is written in.

Set your time zone

A properly set time zone ensures that scheduled posts go live at the right moment, timestamps on comments and logs are accurate, booking systems work as expected, and your site’s internal clock aligns with your audience’s expectations. These settings lay a solid foundation for a smooth publishing experience.

Disable comment pagination

Don’t confuse search engines and other visitors of your site with comment pages! On most sites, the number of comments is quite low, and pagination would only create unnecessary extra URLs, with mostly duplicate content, to be crawled. Ravi now helps you disable that pagination!

Remember your drafts?

You started writing an amazing piece, and then life happened. Now the draft version of your amazing piece is desperately waiting for you to finish it. Ravi will now remind you to turn those drafts into valuable pages!

Complete recommendations quicker than ever

Some of our original recommendations have been upgraded to interactive tasks. This means you can now complete them directly from Ravi’s Recommendations, and there’s no need to hunt through the WordPress settings anymore.

The following tasks are now interactive:

  • Set a tagline for your site
  • Delete the default “Hello World!” post
  • Delete the Sample Page
  • Disable comments site-wide

These were already useful recommendations, but making them interactive makes it so much easier to complete them!

Available now

Progress Planner 1.7 is available today. If you’ve already installed the plugin, you’ll see the update in your dashboard. You can also download the latest version from WordPress.org.

As always, we’re continuously improving Progress Planner based on real-world usage and feedback. If you have ideas or suggestions, we’d love to hear them at ravi@progressplanner.com!
